How To Prepare A TED Talk In English As A Non Native English Speaker.
We get asked a lot by professionals and managers for training and help to prepare and practice presentations in English. And inevitably we get asked if it’s possible to learn how to do a TED Talk in English.
(See more about TED Talks on their incredibly popular website and youtube channel)
And the answer is, “Yes of course, with preparation and practice”.
Prepare a TED Talk in English as a non native English speaker.
?? Here are 6 simple steps from our training to help you (prepare a TED Talk in English as a non native English speaker):
✅ Observe a non-native English TED Speaker (6 min talk), identify and evaluate 5 things they do well when presenting and talking in their TED Talk. Think about how you could model them and copy their good points to help yourself improve.
✅ Prepare and write a short script in English for your imaginary TED Talk topic (3-5 minutes time limit).
✅ Then practice your own short TED Talk (3-5 minutes time limit) by recording yourself speaking on a webcam or Smartphone camera.
✅ Watch it and give yourself feedback based on the 5 things from point 1. Which things did you do well and which things do you need to improve?
✅ Practice it again. Practice a second time your own short TED Talk (3-5 minutes time limit) by recording yourself speaking on a webcam or Smartphone camera. And if you want and you have time you can practice it three times (with three recordings).
✅ Then watch your second practice and give yourself feedback based on the 5 things from point 1. Which things did you do well in the second practice? And which things do you need to improve and keep working on?
