How To Improve Your Presentations In English With A Cheat Sheet

Improve your presentations in English. This is the goal of many professionals in our Business English training.

How To Improve Your Presentations In English With A Cheat Sheet

When doing presentations in English (see our previous posts on presenting in English) both native English speaking professionals and non native English speaking professionals suffer a lot. The most common problems we see range from:

  • how to manage their nerves (prepare, practice speaking out loud with your ‘one page cheat sheet’ like an actor and use breathing techniques – combined together all really help)
  • being worried about going blank during their presentations in English (practice speaking out loud with your ‘one page cheat sheet’)
  • forgetting key information and figures (practice speaking out loud with your ‘one page cheat sheet’)
  • not projecting a professional image
  • thinking they don’t have enough English vocabulary (not true, most professionals know all the key vocabulary in English in their field)

To improve your presentations in English, the key to overcoming these problems is preparation and practice.

(And as well as recommending our own practical training, as past members of TM we also highly recommend Toastmasters)

How To Improve Your Presentations In English With A Cheat Sheet

A good solution we’ve developed from our training is to help professionals to use a ‘one page cheat sheet’ in English.

?? In the 3 minute video we explain 4 quick techniques to help you:

✅ Structure – organise your presentation into key sections (opening, main ideas, ending)

✅ Think of 2 to 4 key points per section (keep it to one page only)

✅ Write 2 to 4 words to help you remember each key point (keep it concise and don’t write full sentences)

✅ Practice and audio record yourself speaking out loud while using your one page cheat sheet (listen and then audio record yourself speaking out loud again)
